Come along and be part of a battle re-enactment between the O'Connors and the Anglicans, see a straw hut settlement with a lamb roasting over an open fire.

Daingean has a full weekend of events planned starting with Surf N'Turf on Saturday 8th June. Come along early to try your hand at canoeing, kyaking, water polo, water zorbing, then stay around for a mouth watering BBQ and more boating fun. For the really energetic, there will be a a Du-Athlon on the day starting a 11am - a 5K Run, 24K Cycle 3K Run taking in the diverse bogland of North Offaly.
On Sunday 9th June the pace will be a little more sedate as we take you back to Medieval Times when the O'Connors upheld Philipstown (*Daingean) as their stronghold in Offaly. (*Daingean meaning fortress/stronghold). A straw hut settlement with a pig roasting over an open fire. Experience the taste of home made potato bread cooked on a skillet over a naked flame Come along and watch the local blacksmith forge a shoe for his horse, then take a journey around Daingean in a horse drawn vehicle. Try you hand at archery, pottery or weaving.
These are just some of the things we have planned for the day as well as an array of livestock and a chicken fair. And of course we hope to see you milling about dressed in Medieval Costume. The Heritage Boat Association will be joining us in Daingean over the weekend before heading to Shannon Harbour for Mid-summer celebrations.
